Uma Damle (b. 1990) is a photographer and filmmaker living and working in New Delhi, India.
While pursuing a bachelors in Fashion Communication at National Institute of Fashion Technology Uma was drawn to fashion photography for it’s imaginative narrative and quiet drama. In 2015, after having worked as a fashion and commercial photographer for two and a half years, she received two prestigious national scholarships to pursue a fully funded MA in Fashion Photography at London College of Fashion – University of the Arts London.
Uma is drawn to the uncanny and the unusual in an ordinary and humdrum universe. She dreams of a reality, different from the one we inhabit in a delicate but significant way and finds constructed imagery the ideal way to bring these fantastical visions to life. Recently she has also started dabbling in short films, which she directs, shoots and edits herself. Her short film “Illustrations in Melancholia” was showcased at the London Short Film Festival in February 2017.
Apart from photography, Uma is a trained Hindustani Classical vocalist, illustration enthusiast and a lazy and reluctant writer.
